It was able to drive close to walls without hitting them, and even managed to traverse thresholds for rooms that are raised without issue, though it occasionally was unable to navigate down stairs in a single pass. The S1 performed admirably in cleaning hard floors. Its mop drove smoothly on its flat side and lifted itself when it was near carpets or rugs.

The S1's docking station automatically empties its trash bin and fills its water tank on board with clean, ozonated water prior to every mopping session. The dock also adds a cleaning solution into the water to ensure deep cleaning. The S1's tank of water holds enough water for about 12 cleaning sessions before it needs to be cleaned, although it will differ based on how much you use the mop.

The S1 requires periodic maintenance, just like all 2-in-1 robots. It is necessary to regularly wash out the tank that has been contaminated to keep it from becoming blocked. Also, you'll need to clean your sensors and swivel wheel regularly to avoid them getting clogged up with dust or dirt. Overall the S1 requires less maintenance than other combos.
