The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover (Read the Full Posting) can vacuum and mop without needing your attention, and will leave your floors clean. Its affordable price and high-end functions (such as dirt detector) are both positives.

Make sure you regularly inspect your robot's brushes for hair tangled and large debris and clean them as needed. Some models will automatically empty their dust bin on board into a larger one at the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They have top-of-the-line motors that can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the top model), they use smart mapping to create detailed floor plans and eliminate household obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also have Carpet Boost, a feature that boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on bare floors, and they are particularly adept in cleaning hair from dogs. However, they do have a few flaws that keep them from being our top choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to become stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people well during our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of a room.

It's still a great deal, especially if your home or office has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save some money. It's also very quiet and can be used while you are at work or in school. The only thing it's missing that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you need to clean the mopping pad, it can be changed for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into an elegant, compact package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with an impressive suction system and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors to keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time to ensure cleaner and more efficient cleaning. You can alter the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones using the app that is well-designed. Its battery life is average when compared to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it's in a room with carpet, which helps prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be utilized to reach under low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to sweep the entire house and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a great cleaning job on various floors and rooms with different flooring types including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was excellent and it stayed clear of fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature that we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant circular design that appears like a regular Roomba than the competition's compact models This robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive looking models in our evaluations. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also among its most advanced. It features advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's also the only robot vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to a combination high-tech sensors including a structured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely self-refill and empty its base station, and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, offering a simple mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's a noisy unit that could be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive, although it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally capable and look better. This is a two-in-one auto vacuum and mop that's very capable, but it's going to cost you more and produce more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum and mop. It has a range of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take the care of mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot employs a combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and identify obstacles, making it more efficient than some of its premium competitors. It also has a front mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time, though this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and was often confused with power cords or obstructions.

The vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to finish the job. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house according to the degree of dirt they tend to be.

For larger homes it's recommended to choose a model with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot vacuums best to clean one particular area of your house by using the app or voice commands. If you have lots of furniture, a stair mode is also useful. Finally a recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum pick up right where it left off is ideal for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you'd expect from its price tag. It is a good vacuum cleaner and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using only one pad and a reciprocating motion that cleans better that most mop cleaners for robots that we've tested. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured application and a self-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to guide you through the mapping process which collects information about your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, plan an area for cleaning or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt for better performance. The app also grants access to a variety of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It can also reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It features a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction and clever combs for removing pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute little eyes. It is great at vacuuming, but it's more likely to be caught on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums we have test. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that isn't able to double as a bin for emptying.
