The best automatic vacuum and mop Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention, and it leaves your floors spotless. Its low cost and top-of-the-line functions (such as dirt detectors) are a plus.

Examine your robot's brush regularly for tangled debris as well as hair. Wash them if needed. Some models can also self-empty the onboard dustbin and deposit it in an additional bin located at the base. This can reduce the amount of fine dust that gets released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have tested. They have motors that are top of the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobot models (including the top choice), they use intelligent mapping technology to create precise floor plans and eliminate home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also feature carpet boost, a feature that increases the robot's power when it detects an abundance of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned up quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on bare floors and are especially adept in cleaning hair from dogs. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. For instance, the Q5's navigation doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to become entangled in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tightly packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.

It's still a good value for those whose home or office has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save some money. Additionally, it's quiet and can work while you're at work, or at school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on well and aren't able to take on dried-on debris. The Q5 does have a self-emptying dock, though. If you need to, the mopping pad can be replaced with a wet one in just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it easy to clean and effective at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with self-emptying dustbins, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, although it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time to provide better cleaning. The app lets you modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. It comes with a battery life that is comparable to other models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to remove and extend its mop. This can help avoid cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ as well as the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to sweep the entire house and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a great job of cleaning a mix of floors and rooms with various flooring types, such as certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog socks, turds, shoes and cables.

It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically empties into its base, and supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it vacuums. This is a feature that we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

This robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that appears much like a Roomba model than the boxy models from the competitors. It's one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot vacuum cleaner reviews that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to a mix of high-tech sensors including a structured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with an easy mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's loud, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or at night as you try to fall asleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally capable and look better. If you're willing to put up with a little more noise and some additional cost it's a capable two-in-one that should satisfy most people.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and vacuum. It has a range of advanced features that help you forget your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take care of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of the combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and spot obstacles, and navigates more effectively than some of its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, although this wasn't quite reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to finish the job. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vac works and alters the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house according to the degree of dirt they are.

If you have a larger home, you should consider selecting a model with a zones or spot cleaning modes. This lets you instruct the robot on which part of your house needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice control. A stairway mode is beneficial if you have large furniture. Also the recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum continue where it left off is great for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more intelligent than its price suggests. It does a stellar job vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using only one pad and a reciprocating movement which is cleaner than the majority of the robot mop cleaners that we've tried. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to set up an automatic spot-clean. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas for greater efficiency. The app has a range of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.

It can also reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It is equipped with an impressive 8000 Pascal suction and clever combs for removing pet hair. It also has the ability to set up a spot clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It's good at vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit louder than the other top robot vacuum cleaners best vacuums we've tested. It also comes with an app that's less intuitive, and a smaller base station that does not double as a bin to empty.
