However, they do have a few flaws that keep them from being our top choice. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is that its navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to getting stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate densely packed rooms very well during our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera that would let it see the corners of a room.
It's still a great deal, especially if your home or office has a lot of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save money. It's also quiet and operates while you are at work or in school. The only thing it lacks that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with an auto-emptying dock, however. 3. IRobot Roomba X40
The robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that appears more like the regular Roomba unit than the boxy models of the rivals. It is one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also its smartest. It comes with advanced features such as enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).
It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that has a perfect 10 in our evaluations, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, including a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.
Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is easy to use, offering an intuitive mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 still a loud unit. This could be a concern in the mornings before work, or in the evening when you are trying to sleep.
It's also quite expensive, but it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally powerful and look better. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's very capable, but it's going to cost you more and produce more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum and mop. It has a range of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes the care of vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank and washes and dries its mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of an array of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and spot obstacles, making it more efficient than some of its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time however, it wasn't 100% foolproof during our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you would imagine from its price. It's a pro at cleaning, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad that has a reciprocating motion, which does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tried. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self emptying base that can be washed.
The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, arrange the perfect spot for cleaning or sort out your rooms with the most dirt to ensure better performance.
