World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades can be used to boost the stats of a particular item. Based on the type of upgrade it could boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity and boost additional stats.

Each item has a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a certain amount.

Item Level

When an item is upgraded, its basic stats increase in value. This value is the total of all of its leveled up perks (attack magic attack, attack defense). Upgrades can be costly, dependent on who you employ and what you decide to do. This is due to the sheer number of perks that have to be modified to upgrade an item.

It can also be used as a gating requirement when queueing for raids, dungeons and scenarios. It is also used to limit how much PvP gear players can use, since PvP is limited at lower levels. Players can see their average level of items on their character sheet.

The level of an item can help players compare the power of equipment when deciding to purchase or sell. It's an indicator of the damage and quality. The level of the item can be used to compare items when evaluating the inventory of a vendor.

The item upgrader mod level can be seen by pressing the ALT key on a PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the item's full description, including ilvl. It can also be found by hovering over an item using the mouse cursor, and then entering /itemlevel into chat.

There are several theories about how the level of an item is determined. One theory is that the level is a numerical value derived from a formula that determines the value of an item's stats are worth. It takes into consideration that different perks are valued differently, and that gems in the sockets increase the item's value. This can result in a calculated item level upgrade's ilvl that is typically very close to Blizzard's actual level of the item.

However, this isn't the only factor which determines the ilvl of an item, because the level of the region the item dropped in can change the value of its stats, such as by adding a level to its haste rating or crit rating. Items dropped in higher-level instances will have a higher ilvl.

Item Stats

Item stats are a big element in what makes or breaks an item for players. The game uses a lot of them in various ways to encourage players to use multiple weapons, and prevent one weapon from being "the Best item upgrade." The base stats of a weapon are boosted by the weapon's stat modification which are then increased by the player's skill.

Item upgrades add to that by increasing certain stats on the item. The cost of upgrades is determined by the rarity of the item. For instance, a grey or white item will only be upgraded once, while items with rare levels will be upgraded multiple times at higher prices.

Affixes can also be used to change an item's stats. They are stat boosts that can be added by the player to an item. The affixes could do things like give the item additional damage, or add a unique capability to the item (such as reviving dead or decreasing the cooldowns) or make the item unique by adding a special name to the item.

All affixes are being re-rolled right now by selecting them in the upgrade window, pressing the green button. This procedure will cost the player a specific amount of gold and other items which can be added to the upgrade Item gauge in the same way as other rerolling options.

Players can upgrade an item by a specific stat, or reroll affixes. The stat ranges are determined by the item's level. However, all items will have at least one stat within that range unless they are an item that is unique, or the item is a God Roll from a boss in a raid.

This is another thing that could be altered by adding the option to upgrade the equipment without rolling the affixes or choosing which stats to boost. But, like base equipment, this would have to be done on a per-item basis, and the interface for item comparison wouldn't show all possible stats either lost or gained at the same time.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player increases the chance of finding items as well as the properties generated by loot, and the intensity of these properties. It does not, however, directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It simply gives the player a chance to acquire better equipment earlier in the game, and is therefore more valuable in early game runs than in later ones, because most players value higher weapon scaling and defenses over raw damage gains.

Luck can also increase the chances of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading which increases with each level of the item and can be further enhanced through the use of an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

The shields, armor and weapons have an initial Luck value of 40. These items can be enhanced by using golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the material they are made of) to increase the value of 40 luck or to boost the luck of the item to 140.

Certain items, such as the Hollow-infused weapon can also be crafted to increase the damage dealt by any ability that is able to deal damage by five percent. These items can be bought at the store or crafted using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades work. Cash shop items can be used to increase the chances of success for an upgrade or to prevent players from losing their items if it does not work.

When you upgrade an item, the success rate is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of completing the upgrade successfully and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations to the extent to which the success rates can be improved, and the overall chance of an upgrade failing can't exceed 100%..

The luck of an item may affect the effectiveness of an upgrade. All items have an overall success rate of 25 percent and each item with Luck increases this chance by five percent.

It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the items in the inventory which means that enchantment glints and other effects could be obstructed by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the item upgrader kit Upgrader CORE client config.
