Usually objects with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base while items with strong bases like eth titans do not vary in their stats following being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be added to armors, weapons trinkets, weapons, and gathering tools. They can be used as an attribute benefit, or an additional benefit, while the equipment is being used. They can be bought from vendors, or found as loot by enemies, or received from chests or missions. Certain upgrades can also be equipped with special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be above a certain point before they are upgraded.

To upgrade the quality of a weapon, armor or other item in the game, players must select it and then click on the Upgrade button in the toolbar. This will display on the right-hand side of the screen a preview of the expected upgrade stats and the components or materials required for the upgrade.

There are three kinds of universal upgrades (which include gems) Prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, which include gems, can be put in any type of equipment, and offer lower bonuses than upgrade components that are type-restricted. Infusions are jewels that can only be used in equipment that is legendary or ascended. They provide the same bonuses as jewels, but they cannot be used in other equipment. Suffix upgrades, which can be placed in gathering tools, add their names to the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for instance adding a Glyph to an Best item upgrader that is a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would make it a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.

If a player upgrades a gathering tool, and replaces glyphs with another glyph, the old one will be returned to their inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component can destroy it, except for the inscriptions that can be swapped.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade process differs from previous versions in some fundamental ways. Gear is now divided into tracks and items can be upgraded a set number of times before being "leveled out." The cost for upgrades increases with each level up however the materials required aren't as high. This lets players focus their efforts on a couple of important items to maximize their impact rather than spreading out the upgrade costs across multiple pieces.

When an item is leveled out and is leveled out, it will be able to receive an upgrade set of components, and an increase in the likelihood that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is called the Artisan’s Energy and it resets to 0 if the upgrade fails or increases when the upgrade succeeds.

When a piece of equipment is upgraded to its highest level it is able to receive affixes that will increase its features. The number of affixes available is contingent on the type of item it is. For example an uncommon or exclusive weapon that has a standard base will only have two affixes. A legend armor will have eight affixes.

Each upgrade requires a certain number of Flightstones or Crests, depending on whether the item is at its current level and in what slot it is placed in. In general, weapons will require more Flightstones to upgrade than other kinds of equipment.

If an item is not able to reach its max level the NPC will offer the player the option of transfer it to a different person and then re-infuse the item with a different set of upgrades. To measure the height of a structure, engineers will employ an instrument to compare the measurement with a known reference point like a benchmark, or the ground's elevation. This is known as a "level loop." This involves taking readings using the level, backsighting rod, and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method guarantees that the buildings are constructed with an extremely high level of accuracy and security.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is a very important aspect of the game and can increase the strength, damage, or other attributes. This can be done through the item menu or by clicking the Reroll button on an upgraded item upgrader Kit. Rerolling items can be expensive and should be handled with care.

Reroll tokens are earned by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item or a similar item. Recyclable items have an indicator that indicates the amount of upgrade. The amount of level that has been filled is contingent on the rarity and upgrade cost of the item upgrader.

Prior to this, certain upgrade items were given priority affixes which made them more accessible for players to roll. This meant that you'd receive the most crucial stats to your build more frequently than other items. These included things like the armor's total armor, thorns, and duration reduction stats that are controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.

This changed with the recent patch. Priority affixes have been removed and all upgrades will have the same chances of rolling for every stat. This can be good or bad, based on what you're looking to get from your equipment.

Each upgraded item may have a unique bonus that increases the item's power by a set percentage or flat value. These bonuses are added to the normal affixes. The more you upgrade an item upgrader mod, the greater the chance of receiving a unique bonus.

The game also comes with number sets that give a bonus when three or four upgraded items from the set are placed on an unit. This is a great method to add a lot of power to a specific character without spending an excessive amount of money.

Many players reroll their weapons and gear, especially in the early stages. This is because rerolling can offer a quicker route to becoming a strong character, allowing them to reach high tiers and progress the game more quickly.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom offers a wide range of upgradeable set items. Some items are worth upgrading and others aren't. Armor sets with the highest defense value or set bonuses are typically worth upgrading. However, weapon upgrades often do not improve the item level upgrade's stats much in comparison to their purple counterparts. This makes them less appealing to upgrade when your collection of weapons and armor pieces is already large.

Certain set items are upgraded to meet their own unique functions that can be useful in certain builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, increasing their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement was increased as well).

Upgrades can also be done to bring certain items up to par with the levels. The Immortal King Set, for instance, comes with a wide range of levels, ranging from 29 to 75. Upgrades to lower-level items could enhance their defense, and make them more competitive in terms of damage.

Players can also verify the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.
