It's thus susceptible to become stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people well during our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera that would let it see the corners of an area.
It's still a great option to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also quiet and can be used while you're at work or school. The only thing it doesn't have that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective in mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on well and aren't able to take on dried-on debris. The Q5 has an auto-emptying dock, however. If you're in need of it mop, the mopping pad can be changed for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. It is one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also happens to be its smartest model, with features that are cutting-edge like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).
It's the only robot vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 in our tests thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it has an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has a simple mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that the X40 still a loud unit. This can be a concern in the mornings before work or during the night when you are trying to sleep.
It's also somewhat expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are similarly capable and more attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful however it will cost you more and create more noise.
