Upgrades can boost the value of weapons, armors and rings. Upgrades can also boost bonuses like Crit chance and damage from PvE.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be put into armor, weapons, and trinkets to provide an additional stat boost or impact while they're being used. They can be obtained by crafting, buying from vendors, trading or looting. Certain upgrades also come with special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can only be used on equipment with a slot. The item must be at least upgraded to a blue level before a component can be applied. Upgrade components, unlike other modifications, can only be applied once. They cannot be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and enrichments are a type of upgrade component that can be used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and ascended equipment, as well other items that are not ascended. Infusions and enrichments can be obtained by salvaging ascended equipment or completing a mission in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade may be prefixed or a suffix changing the name of the item to which it is used (for instancethe 'Canthan Armor Insignia is changed to Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). These upgrades can be purchased by purchasing them in the cash shop or getting them from enemies while upgrading other gear.

The player can have up to five boost upgrades at a time; each upgrade increases the chance that a better-quality version of the item will drop in the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to keep improving their equipment even if they're not sure of how much it will improve after a future reset.

If a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process can be expensive, and there is a high chance that the item could become obsolete or even break when it fails; a unsuccessful upgrade could cause the destruction of Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder as well as the upgraded item. This is reduced by the availability of cash shop items that increase or even eliminate the chance of failure, as well as some upgrades that offer an additional benefit when they are inserted into an item.

These points can be used to upgrading an item. Once enough points are earned you'll be eligible to claim the upgrade and also receive the bonuses.

When an individual player upgrades an item, the base item will be replaced with the new item. The same armor can be transformed into an weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item also has its own set bonus. This could be a drawback since the item may become more expensive even if you don't need it.

The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is dependent on its rarity score and upgrade slot count. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equal to its value. For example an item upgrader that is commonplace could have five upgrades at a cost of. 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items have a lower cost per upgrade.

Premium items have different requirements for upgrading than standard gear--for instance, they might require fewer sowels, but they will require more minerals and erons.
