For one, the Q5's navigation doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to get caught up in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.
However, it's a good choice to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also very quiet and can work when you're at work or going to school. The only thing it lacks that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. The robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that appears more like the regular Roomba model than the boxy models of the competition. It's one of our most attractive robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot vacuum best that is able to wash mop pads).
It's the only robotic mop or vacuum to score an exemplary 10/10 in our evaluations thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors that include a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully self-refill and empty its base station and boasts an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or to create a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to rank your most filthy areas for greater efficiency. The app also grants access to a variety of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it can reach corners and under furniture more easily. It also has a powerful 8000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for pet hair. And you can set up a spot clean that scours a specific area.
