The best automatic vacuum cleaner Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention. It will leave your floors clean. Its affordable price and high-end functions (such as a dirt detector) are a plus.

Make sure you regularly examine the brushes of your robot for tangled hair and large particles, and wash them when required. Some models will also empty the onboard dustbin and deposit it in an additional bin located at the base. This reduces the amount fine dust that gets released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive counterpart, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have tested. They feature motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the most powerful model), they use intelligent mapping to design precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also have a feature called Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on bare floors, and they are particularly adept in removing dog hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which hinder them from being our top option. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's thus susceptible to get stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people well during our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.

Still, it's very good for those who want to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also extremely quiet and can be used when you're at work or at school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle, however. And, if you need to, you can switch the mopping pad to dry ones in a matter of seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also features a powerful suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robot vacuum that mops robot hoover for carpets, though it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This highly efficient mop and automatic vacuum and mop combination uses advanced sensor technology to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it learns your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. You can alter its cleaning schedule and set up zones using the app that is well-designed. Its battery life is average in comparison to other models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to take off and extend its mop. This can help avoid cross-contamination. The flex arm is great to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could sweep the entire house, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It also did a great job cleaning a range of floors and rooms with different flooring types, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was top-notch, and it nimbly avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes and cables.

It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums it, something we've not seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With an elegant circular design that appears more like a normal Roomba rather than the boxes this robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most attractive designs in our evaluations. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also the most intelligent. It comes with advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's also the only robot vacuum best vacuum/mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to the combination of high-tech sensors including a structured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and boasts an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning robot mop and vacuum mop pads.

Like other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, with a simple mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's an eerily noisy device that could be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or in the evening as you attempt to sleep.

It's also quite expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing some more volume and some extra cost it's a capable two-in-one that should satisfy most people.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot mop and vacuum. It has a range of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take the care of mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and detect obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time but this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.

The vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with an option known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the house depending on how dirty the areas tend to be.

If you own a larger home, it's worth selecting a model with a spot or zone cleaning mode. This allows you to tell the robot which area of your home must be cleaned using the app or voice command. If you have furniture, a stair-mode is also useful. For busy families, a recharge feature and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off could be very useful.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you would imagine from its price. It has a great vacuuming performance, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad, which uses an oscillating motion that is cleaner than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tried. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self emptying base that is washable.

The well-designed iRobot app guides you through a mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, set up an area for cleaning or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms to ensure better performance. The app offers a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has strong 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for hair of pets. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that will thoroughly clean the area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute little eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it's more likely to be caught on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums that we've test. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.
