Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A best robot floor cleaner vacuum will keep floors clean enough to decrease the frequency you have to manually vacuum. Select a vacuum that is well-trained in navigation, is able to clean corners and stairs and has a large bin that needs to be emptying every so often.
There are also models that can mop and charge themselves, a feature that may be essential for those who have pets or children. The top performers in our tests have great obstacles to avoid.
1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO is similar to its sibling i3 EVO. They differ only in the fact that the i3+ comes with self-emptying capabilities. The i3+ is a great option for those who want an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but are willing to manually empty the robot's dustbin once it gets full.
Both robots are good at removing surface dirt on floors and carpets and are able to maneuver around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates intelligent maps of your home that aid the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ isn't able to have the same obstacle avoidance capabilities as the i7+ or other top-rated robots we tested. It could be stuck on power cords and socks and have difficulty navigating between different surfaces, like rug and hardwood.
iRobot recommends clearing areas where the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, and include getting rid of any clutter or toys it may come across. It's also recommended to keep the bin and filter clear so they aren't clogged by dirt. When the i3+ EVO’s internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station and automatically empties the dirt into the station's external dustbin. It then continues cleaning from where it started. The i3+ EVO's battery can last for about an hour and a half of continuous use, and takes about three hours to recharge.
2. IRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line and is packed with the latest features. It is self-charging and self-navigating. However, the most important feature is its self cleaning vacuum-emptying bin. This removes the need for routine maintenance.
The Roomba I7+ can map rooms more efficiently with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also works with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning jobs, and you can control your robot through the app or voice.
The i7+ is faster and more maneuverable in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also cleaned large pet hair pieces from all surfaces including carpeting. Its main advantage over the eufy, though, is its self-emptying dustbin that eliminates a major source of maintenance and cuts down on recurring costs.
We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility best amazon vacuum Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We utilized these services to instruct the robot on how to start, stop, or pause cleaning sessions as well as move around the room, and even vacuum a specific area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. When connected to these services, we were able give the i7+ voice commands, such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s preferences and monitoring its performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
In a world filled with cordless vacs that look like minivans or buses, this small Dyson model is a sports car. It's powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in most homes, yet it is also small enough to fit on the bookcase or coffee table.
The V10 is powered with a Lithium-ion battery with 7 cells of energy that can provide energy that lasts for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filtration system captures allergens and expels cleaner air back into your home. The specially designed head utilizes stiff nylon bristles to penetrate into carpets, and then pick up large crumbs or fine dust. It has three different suction modes that can be adjusted to the task. It quickly converts from handheld vacuum to floor vacuum, and then back to Automatic Floor Vacuum.
The model also comes with an accessory dock that can charge to 100% in around 3.5 hours, and gives users easy access to two attachments and a clip for a wand. This is a big improvement over the older Dysons, which take a long time to charge and are difficult to store.
The biggest issue with the V10 is its sluggish run time. As CR's tests have shown, its marketing claims of up to 60 minutes are a bit misleading. This is a typical and not a remarkable run time for the battery-powered cordless vacuum. It's enough time to sweep a typical-sized home however, it's not enough time to reach every area. (A second pass is usually sufficient). That's not to say this model isn't a good choice: It's lighter and agile than older cordless Dysons, and its vacuuming efficiency is superior on carpets with a low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694"
One of iRobot's most popular robot vacuums, the 694 is a basic model that's an excellent choice for people who don't wish to spend too much on a robotic. It was able to pick up most types of debris and sizes in our testing and often went over the same area multiple times to give an extensive clean. Its flat front side helps it reach into corners and along the edges of walls and walls, which is a nice feature.
Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt technology to stay clear of obstacles and help you navigate your home. However, it lacks the capabilities for mapping of more advanced models, including our top picks, the i3+EVO and j7+ Series. As a result, it can sometimes get stuck on things like phone cords and furniture that isn't as sturdy, and frequently will run out of battery before making it back to its original location.
The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in all aspects in that it has fewer components that require regular cleaning and is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower recurring costs, has more advanced automation capabilities and is more efficient in moving itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and charges quicker.
The sleek RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba 694. It also comes with physical boundaries and can be controlled with the voice assistant on your smartphone. It is also more robust, has a larger motor, and performs better on low-pile and bare floors.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a household name in home electronics. It's not surprising, then, that they are also among the top manufacturers of robot vacuums and mop. Their Jet bot cleaner AI+ is packed with cutting-edge onboard technology to aid in navigation and obstacles avoidance.
The app gives you plenty of options to personalize your robotic cleaner, such as virtual barriers, mopping water levels and behavior customization, docking frequency settings, and more. It's easy to understand and easy to use, just as is the case with other Samsung devices.
In our testing of the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and dealt with dog hair (on carpet) very well, picking up 86 percent of it. It didn't do very well in avoiding taller items like cords or socks. This was disappointing. It's also more expensive than the other models we've tested and this could be a problem for some buyers.
The smart vacuum has an onboard camera that is accessible through the app, and you can also set up a live stream from the robot's cleaning station. This feature allows you to keep track of your pets or the kids if you're away from home. The dustbin and filter can be cleaned to make cleanup quick and easy. The Jet Bot AI+ comes with self-emptying clean stations, which helps keep the bin clean and optimizes suction power.
6. Black & Decker robot broom Vacuum
Black and Decker robots have been designed specifically for hard flooring. The robots have an extra-wide cleaning path, as well as dust bins that are 2X larger than the competition. This allows them to clean the area for a longer period of time. In addition, they have two side sweepers that clean around edges and corners. The POWERSERIES model includes AutoSense that automatically adjusts the power level depending on whether it's cleaning up dirt on the surface or embedded dirt. It also comes with a smart app that lets you browse the virtual map and manage the functions and schedules. Plus, you can monitor the vacuum's battery status and send it back to its dock for charging at the push of one button. The app also lets you to personalize the LED lights on top of the vacuum with different colors, so that you can easily tell which areas it's focused on or where it's stuck.
The app makes it possible to manually steer the robot in the event of need. For instance my living room rug has a darkly-colored border that can make it difficult for other robots I've tried. The HRV 425BL, however continued to travel across the border without registering the high point. The ability to program a daily cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving benefit.
