The best robot cleaner Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention. It will leave your floors clean. Its surprisingly affordable price and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are pluses.

Make sure you regularly inspect your robot's brushes for hair tangled and large particles, and wash them when required. Some models can also automatically empty their dust bin on board into a larger one at the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful best robot vacuum and mop vacuums we've tested. They have motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. And, like other top iRobot models (including the top-rated model) they employ intelligent mapping technology to create detailed floor plans that avoid common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also feature the feature of Carpet Boost that increases its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective in removing pet hair. However, they have some flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is that its navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's thus susceptible to become stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people well in our tests. Also, it doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of a room.

It's still a great deal for those whose home or office has lots of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save some money. It's also very quiet and you can use it while you're at work, or school. The only thing it's missing that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle however. And, if you have to change the mopping pad for a dry one in just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its smart cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles, like pet hair. It also has a self-emptying dustbin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors that help it keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and offer better cleaning. The app allows you to modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average when compared to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when it's in a carpeted area, which helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also ideal for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could clean an entire home with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a good cleaning job on various flooring and rooms with different kinds of flooring, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was great, and it avoided fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.

It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically emptys into its base, and it supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant circular design that appears more like a normal Roomba than the competition's boxy units this mop and robot auto vacuum and mop is one of the most appealing looking in our reviews. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest model, with features that are cutting-edge like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a structured lighting system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and it boasts the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with an intuitive mobile app interface that integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in the mornings before work or in the evening when you're trying to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive, although it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are similarly capable and more attractive. This is a two-in-one vacuum that is very efficient, but it's going to cost you more and produce more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features that let you get rid of your chores. Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take charge of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floorplans and identify obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its premium competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however this was not foolproof in our tests and was often confused with power cords or obstructions.

Its vacuum has a high suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with an option known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the automatic vacuum cleaner and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas in the home based on how dirty those areas are.

If you have a larger home, it is worth selecting a robot that comes with the option of cleaning zones or spots. This allows you to tell the robot which area of your house needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice command. A stair mode can be useful if you have a number of furniture. For families with busy schedules, a recharge feature and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to resume where it left off can be extremely useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than the price suggests. It is a good vacuum cleaner and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using only one pad and a reciprocating movement that is more efficient than most mop cleaners for robots that we've tried. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, plan an area for cleaning or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms to improve performance. The app also grants access to a variety of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It features a powerful 8000 Pascal suction and clever combs for removing pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans the area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like adorable eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it's more likely to be caught on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums that we have tested. It also comes with an app that's less intuitive and has a tiny base station that does not double as a bin for emptying.
