Upgrades to items can be used to boost the stats of an Best item upgrader. Depending on the type of upgrade, it can increase the rarity of an item, or its Mark Level and increase other stats.

Each item comes with a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a set amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's basic stats increases as it is upgraded. This is the sum of an item's leveled-up perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades to items can be costly, depending on the upgrader you choose and the type of upgrade you choose to make. This is due to the fact that many perks need to be replaced to allow the item to get upgraded.

It is also used as a gating requirement when queueing for raids, dungeons and scenarios. It can also be used to limit the amount of PvP gear players can wear since PvP is not available at lower levels. The average level of the item is listed on the character sheet.

When deciding whether to buy or sell gear, players can compare the level of an item. It's a measure of the item's condition and its quality. The level of an item can be used to compare items when examining the inventory of a seller.

The level of the item can be viewed by pressing the ALT key on a PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the full description of the item, including its ilvl. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel into chat.

There are many theories about how the item level is calculated. One theory says that the level of an item is determined by an equation that determines the value of an item's stats really are. It is based on the fact that different benefits are valued differently and that gems in sockets boost the value of the item. This could result in a calculated item's ilvl that is often very close to Blizzards actual level of the item.

Item Stats

All affixes can be currently re-rolled by selecting them in the upgrade menu pressing the green button. This will cost a specific amount in gold and other items. These can be used as upgrade item gauges, similar to other methods of rerolling.

In addition to the possibility of rerolling affixes, players may also choose which of the available stats to keep on an item after it is upgraded. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However, all items will contain at least one stat within the range, unless they are a unique item or a God Roll from a boss in a raid.

Another thing that could change is the option to upgrade equipment without having to roll the attachments, or pick which stats to enhance. But as with base equipment, this would need to be performed on a per-item level, and the interface for item comparison would not display all the possible stats gained or lost at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player can increase the likelihood of locating items and the properties that are generated by loot, and the intensity of these properties. However, it does not, directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade item items. It provides players with an opportunity to get better gear earlier in the game. This is particularly advantageous in the early game, since players tend to prioritize weapon scaling and defenses above raw damage gains.

In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the probability of being successful when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chances of upgrading that increase with each new level of item. They can also be increased with the use of anti-materials such as a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

The shields, armor and weapons have an initial Luck value of 40. These items can then be upgraded with golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the type of material used) to grant an additional +40 Luck or to increase the existing Luck of an item up to 140.

Certain items, such as the Hollow-infused weapon can also be crafted to increase the damage of any ability that causes damage by 5percent. These items can be purchased in the shop or crafted with the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades work. Cash shop items can be used to increase the chances of success for an upgrade or to prevent players from losing their item in the event that it does not work.

The success rate of an upgrade can be seen in the Honing UI. The percentage is the chances of successfully upgrading that item, and it can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The percentage of success can only be increased as much, and the chance that an upgrade item will fail cannot be greater than 100%..

The performance of an can be affected by the luck of that item. Each item has an overall success rate of 25 percent, and each item with Luck increases this chance by 5percent.

It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the inventory items therefore enchantment glints and other effects could be obscured by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
