WoW Upgrades - The item upgrading Upgrader

Upgrades can give you an increase in certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of the item by +3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless it has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like Eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are not as useful for those with lower requirements due to the need to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. However, the item level upgrade that is used to upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to the enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear current, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each couple of weeks.

The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current level of the item being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than buying new gear from other sources. For example upgrading a Benthic chest piece to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item upgrade from a different player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are useful items that can be used to improve the quality of weapons tools, armor, and accessories. They can be purchased by players from NPCs of item upgraders in a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will display the item's next upgrade level, when there are enough materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot for the item and the current item level. For instance, weapons will cost more than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades offer a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain level it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

A lot of locations offer upgraders for items, including the main Island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases as more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete certain achievements or quests.

In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items in the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead the NPCs that can be used to upgrade item require several methods which is both an improvement but also a drawback.

In Season 3, the upgrade system has been modified a bit, and numerous new features added. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a particular level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading other items to that same item level will be less expensive, even when they are part of another set of gear.

The discount is available to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is reduced also, but is only available once certain milestones are achieved.

Crests

When it comes to upgrading equipment in WoW players have a variety of options. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more special and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.

First, you should know that the crests can only be purchased for equipment that is with a certain rank. Each rank comes with an upgrade path that is different. The most basic and straightforward upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the most complex requires as many as 20 crests depending on the kind of gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through working through tasks at the appropriate level. This could be by doing outdoor activities, or by taking on dungeons and raids of all difficulty levels to obtain lower-tier gear or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons with heroic difficulty for endgame gear. The crests can later be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.

The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, however it does bring some modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece of equipment attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This is to allow players to upgrade their equipment to the highest level possible for all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.

It's also essential to use crests wisely, as they have only one purpose. It is recommended to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the highest-quality gear you can locate, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is especially relevant for trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character which will only be able to take advantage of the account-wide discount if all slots are full of high-quality equipment.
