It's also less effective in mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle however. If you're in need of it mop, the mopping pad can be swapped for one that is wet in just a few just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a sleek, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as quick navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. The robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that looks much like a Roomba model than the bulky units of the rivals. It is one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).
It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to a combination high-tech sensors including a structured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.
Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an intuitive mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's still quite loud which could be an issue if you use it in the morning before work, or at night when you try to fall asleep.
It's also a bit expensive, but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. If you're willing to live some more volume and some additional cost, this is a very capable two-in-one that should delight most.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot auto vacuum and mop and mop, with a lot of advanced features to help you get rid of your chores. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house depending on the degree of dirt they are.
For larger houses it's recommended to choose one with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean a particular area of your home using the app or voice controls. If you have lots of furniture, a stair-mode is also a good option. Also the recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more intelligent than the price suggests. It vacuums well, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad and a reciprocating movement that cleans better that most mop cleaners for robots that we've tried. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying base that is washable.
The well-designed iRobot app guides you through a mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, plan the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritize your most filthy rooms to ensure better performance. The app offers a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It has a powerful 8000 Pascal suction, as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean an area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana.
