It s A Robot Hoover Success Story You ll Never Remember
The Best Robot Hoover
The best robotic mop and vacuum robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention, and will leave your floors spotless. Its low cost and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are pluses.
Be sure to inspect your robot's brushes for hair tangled and large particles and wash them if required. Some models can also self-empty the onboard dustbin and deposit it in a larger bin at the base. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobots (including the top model), they use smart mapping to produce precise floorplans that avoid obstacles such as cords and furniture leg. The robots also feature the feature of Carpet Boost that increases its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our bare floor tests They're also particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which hinder them from being our top choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology which means it's susceptible to become entangled in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.
It's still a great option, especially if you want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. Additionally, it's quiet and can work when you're at work or going to school. The only thing it's missing that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective in mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on for long and don't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you want to, you can swap the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient in taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also has self-emptying dustbins, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, although it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performing combination vacuum and mop makes use of advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste and it learns the layout of your home over time for more efficient cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and customize zones using the app that is well-designed. Its battery life is average when compared to other models.
If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to remove and extend its mop. This will help prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm is perfect to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could sweep the entire house and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a great cleaning job on various floors and rooms with different flooring types, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was excellent and it stayed clear of fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically empties into its base, and it supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming it, something we haven't seen in other good robot vacuum vacuum/mop combinations.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
The robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular look that looks more like the regular Roomba model than the boxy models of the competitors. It's among our most attractive looking best robot vacuum cleaner and mop vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is its most advanced and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).
It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop to score an absolute 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it has an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.
Like other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, with a simple mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device which could be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you try to fall asleep.
It's also a bit expensive, although it's not as pricey as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally capable and better-looking. If you're willing to live some more volume and some additional cost, this is a very capable two-in-one that should please almost everyone.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features to help you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine like Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically empty the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, and washes and dries the mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floorplans and identify obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however this was not foolproof in our tests and could be confused with power cords or obstructions.
Its vacuum has a high suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and also adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home according to the amount of dirt they tend to be.
For larger homes it's recommended to choose a model with spot or zone cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a particular area of your home via the app or voice commands. A stair mode can be useful if you own a lot furniture. For families with busy schedules, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off could be very useful.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more intelligent than its price would suggest. It has a great vacuuming performance and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using only one pad and a rotating motion which is cleaner than the majority of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tried. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying base that is washable.
The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, plan an area for cleaning or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to ensure better performance. The app has a range of features, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it can reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It has a powerful 8000 Pascal suction as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. And you can set up a spot cleaning that thoroughly cleans a particular area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble adorable eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it is more likely to be caught on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums that we have tested. It also comes with an app that is less intuitive, and a smaller base station that can't double as a bin for emptying.
