The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on bare floors, and they are particularly adept at cleaning hair from dogs. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our top choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to get caught up in shoes and socks and can't navigate tightly packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of an area.

However, it's a good choice, especially if you want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also very quiet and can work when you're at work or going to school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't stay on for long and don't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does have a self-emptying dock, though. And, if you need to, you can switch the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as quick navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in dealing with larger particles, like pet hair. It also has strong suction and self-emptying bin. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, but it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

It's also the only robot vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. The only issue is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a problem in mornings prior to work or at night when you're trying to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive, but it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally capable and more attractive. If you're willing to live some more volume and some extra cost it's a efficient two-in-one device that should please almost everyone.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum and mop. It comes with a variety of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take the care of mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and detect obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its top competitors.
