Upgrades can boost the value of weapons, armors and rings. They also increase bonuses like PvE damage and crit chance.

Components

Upgrade components can be added to trinkets, weapons and armor in order to give them a stat boost or add a bonus effect. These can be obtained through crafting, buying from vendors trading, or looting. Some upgrades can also be accompanied by special cosmetic effects.

A prefix or suffix can be added to an upgrade, changing the name of the item it is applied to (for instance, 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' becomes Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost the Mark Rarity or Level of an item, allowing players create stronger versions with less upgrade crystals than they require to reach the same level using standard methods.

A boost upgrade can alter the attack or defence attributes of an armored weapon or. After the player has completed the cutscene and defeated Crazed Mechanist the upgrades can be made at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades can be obtained by purchasing them from the cash shop, or by obtaining them from enemies when upgrading other equipment.

Each Glyph has a certain range of values that it can improve a statistic by, and the value is shown when you choose the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with an Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.

There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of the Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain gathering tools that are unlimited-use as well as through Faction Crypt raids. Leveling

If the player has enough tokens, they can reroll item upgrades. The item will be replaced by an entirely new item that is based on a level 1 base and completely different bonuses. This is a good idea but it should not be used frequently as it could waste resources.

If an item fails to upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. The item also loses any bonuses it gained like the chance to crit attack damage, additional effects (such as an increase in healing over time or the speed of reloading). However, the user can still continue to use the weapon or armor after the failure.

When an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied in order from the lowest to the highest. This means that when a weapon is upgraded, if it gains a crit chance increase, the increase will be applied prior to any attack damage increases. Slots is a new attribute that was added to the definitions of items. The value is calculated each time an upgrade occurs.

The amount of resources required to upgrade an item are dependent on its rarity score and upgrade slot count. The cost for upgrading non-premium products is equal to the base value of the upgrade.
