World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

The upgrade of an item can be used to boost the stats of a particular item. Depending on the type of upgrade, it can boost the rarity of an item, or its Mark Level and boost additional stats.

The process of upgrading gear in The War Within requires a specified number of Flightstones and Crests Each item upgrader kit comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade item increases the cost of the following one by a specific amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's stats base increase when it is upgraded. The value is the sum of all the leveled up advantages (attack magic attack, attack defense). Upgrades can be costly, depending on who you hire and what you decide to do. This is due to the sheer number of perks that must be modified to upgrade an item.

The level of an item is a popular measure of power, and can be seen on all tooltips for items. It can also be used to determine a gating condition when waiting for dungeons, scenarios, and raids, as well as to limit the amount of PvP gear a player can wear (since PvP is restricted to an lower level). The average item level is listed on the character sheet.

When deciding whether to purchase or sell gear players can evaluate the level of an item. It's an indicator of the damage and quality. The item level can also be used to evaluate items when examining a vendor's inventory.

On PC, you can check the level of the item by pressing ALT or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the item's full description, including ilvl. It is also accessible by hovering over an item using the mouse cursor and typing /itemlevel into chat.

There are several theories on how the calculation of the item level upgrade's level is done. One theory states that the item level is determined by an equation that determines the value of an item's stats really are. It takes into account the fact that different perks have different worth and that gems in sockets add to the overall value of the item. This could result in a calculated item's ilvl that is usually very close to Blizzard's actual level of the item.

It's not the only thing that affects the level of an item. The location of where the item was dropped can change its stats. For example it can increase the item's haste or crit score. Items that drop in higher-level instances will have higher ilvl.

Item Stats

Stats on an item are a significant component of what makes or breaks an item for players. The game uses a variety of them in a variety of ways to encourage players to play with multiple weapons, and also to stop one weapon from being "the most effective." The base stats of a weapon are boosted by the weapon's stat modification which are then enhanced by the player's level.

Upgrades to an item can increase the stats of an item. The rarity of an item determines its cost of upgrading. For instance, a grey or white item will only be upgraded once, while an item with rare tiers can be upgraded many times with higher prices.

Affixes are a different method to change an item's stats. They are stat boosts that can be added by the player to an item. Affixes can do things like give the item extra damage, or add a unique capability to the item (such as reviving the dead or decreasing the cooldowns), or make the item unique by giving an exclusive name to the item.

All affixes are currently re-rolled by selecting them in the upgrade window, and pressing the green button. This will cost a specific amount in gold and other items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges, similar to other rerolling methods.

Players can upgrade an item with specific stats, or reroll attaches. The stat ranges are determined by the item's level. However each item will contain at least one stat within the range, unless they are an exclusive item, or the item is a God Roll from a boss in a raid.

This is another aspect that could be altered by adding an option to upgrade the equipment without rolling the affixes or deciding which stats to boost. Like the base equipment, it must be done per item and the item comparison interface wouldn't display all possible stats at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player increases the probability of obtaining items and the properties that are spawned by loot and the strength of these properties. It doesn't, however directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It merely gives players a chance to upgrade their gear in earlier waves and is therefore more useful in early game runs than in later ones, as most players prioritize higher weapon scaling and defenses over damage gains.

In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chance of success when upgrading items with the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chance which increases with each level of the item and can be further increased by using an anti-material, such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Weapons, armor, and shields can spawn or be crafted by using the Luck property, with an initial value of 40. These items can then be upgraded with golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the item's material type) to grant a further +40 Luck or to increase the Luck of an item, up to 140.

Certain items, such as the weapon that is infused with hollow can also be crafted to increase the damage of any skill that is able to deal damage by 5percent. These items are available in the shops or made by using the appropriate ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items can be expensive and not all upgrades will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chance of success of an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their item if it is not successful.

The success rate of an upgrade can be seen in the Honing UI. The percentage indicates the probability of successfully upgrading an item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special materials. The probability of success can only be increased by so much, and the likelihood that the upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%.

The success of an item upgrade is also affected by the luck of that item. All items have a base success rate of 25% and each item with Luck increases the chance of success by an additional five percent.

The item upgrade overlays are rendered above items in the inventory. This can obscure enchantment effects and other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
