The Best Robot Hoover

The best automatic vacuum and mop robot cleaner hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention, and leaves your floors spotless. Its price is surprisingly low and features that are high-end (such as dirt detection) are pluses.

Examine your robot's brush regularly for tangled debris and hair. Clean them as needed. Certain models also automatically empty the dust bin on board and then deposit it in a larger bin at the bottom. This reduces the amount fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the top model) they employ smart mapping to create detailed floor plans and eliminate household obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also feature carpet boost which boosts the robot's power when it spots the presence of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned up quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on bare floors and are especially adept in removing hair from dogs. However, they do have a few flaws that keep them from being our top choice. For one, the Q5's navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology, so it's prone to get caught up in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't come with an image sensor that lets it see the corners of a room.

It's still a good value for those whose home or office has a lot of unfinished floors and you want to save some money. It's also quiet and operates while you're at work or school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. And, if you have to, you can swap the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also features a powerful suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets but it's not as good as other hoovers when it comes to deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors to keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to provide cleaner and more efficient cleaning. The app lets you customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. It comes with a battery life that is similar to other models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when it's in a room with carpet which prevents cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also perfect to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to sweep the entire house and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a good cleaning job on a variety of floors and rooms with different flooring types, including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog socks, turds, and bundles of cables.

It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming this feature, which hasn't been seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

The best robot vacuum cleaner and mop vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that looks more like the regular Roomba model than the bulky models from the competitors. It's one of our most attractive robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest, with advanced features including enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that has an exemplary 10/10 in our evaluations thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, which include a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot vacuum reviews we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to use. It comes with an intuitive mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a problem in mornings before work or at night when you're trying to fall asleep.

It's also a bit costly however, not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally capable and better looking. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable, but it will cost you more and make more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and vacuum. It has a number of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take care of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically empty the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot uses a combination of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and spot obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its more expensive competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection but this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and could be confused with power cords or obstructions.

The vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with an attribute called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the house depending on how dirty those areas are.

For larger homes it's recommended to choose models that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean one particular area of your house by using the app or via voice commands. A stairway mode is useful if you own a lot furniture. For families that are busy, a recharge function and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to resume where it left off can be very beneficial.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you'd think from its price. It has a great vacuuming performance and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad and a reciprocating motion which is cleaner than the majority mop cleaners for robots that we've tested. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying, washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping which collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, plan a spot clean or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms for better performance. The app also grants access to a host of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean the area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit noisier than the other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that isn't able to double as an emptying bin.
