The Best Robot Vacuum That Mops

Noah Pinsonnault is a product review analyst for the Home Care and Cleaning Lab at Good Housekeeping.

He tests and evaluates cleaning appliances. His focus is on mopping and robot vacuum combinations. Multitaskers are an excellent choice for those who are looking to remove mopping from their list of tasks. Some models have superior mapping capabilities and obstacles avoidance. Some even wash and refill mopping pads themselves to ensure a hands-free clean.

The Eufy S1 Pro

This is the model you need to choose if you want an automatic vacuum cleaner that can also mop. It is smaller than other models and makes it easier to maneuver into tight corners or under furniture. It features a 220-degree Lidar that, when combined with the 3D Matrix Camera System, offers one of my top navigation and object avoidance capabilities I've seen in robot vacuums. It packs a powerful 4600mAh battery that lasts for up to 170-minutes when mopping and suction are set to standard mode (it is able to run longer in turbo). It will even return to the dock to replenish its battery halfway through a clean.

It's very fast and does a fantastic job of cleaning my two bedroom apartment. It can vacuum carpeted rooms fast, and hardwood floors in the living room, kitchen and hallways in just one pass. Its motor of 8,000pa is able to clean dirt as well as pet hair and even droppings effortlessly. Carpet detection automatically boosts power when it detects rugs and the double side brush assists in removing debris from corners.

The mopping performance, while still impressive, isn't as impressive. The mop's rotating motor spins at a high speed and it pushes down with 2.2lbs of force, effortlessly scrubbing up dirt and staining. I've noticed that the front arms extend out a bit more than other robots, which can be helpful to get into tight corners and along baseboards. The same front arms can also be used to collect larger objects like broken toys and books.

The S1 Pro is also one of the quietest robot mops and vacuums I've tried. It doesn't make as loud of a sound when mopping or vacuuming and is quieter than the Narwal Freo X Ultra or RoboRock S7. The only issue is that the S1 Pro must use a specific cleaning solution to perform mopping, and is sold separately from the vacuum. It's simple to set up and works well however, it's something you'll have to keep an eye on if you're buying this robot vacuum solely for the reason of mopping.

The Roborock Q Revo

The Q Revo is different from other robot vacuums in its class. It is a powerful cleaning machine with a range of features.

The device comes with an efficient cleaning system that combines LiDAR sensor technology with an RGB camera. This allows it to map out the home and also find furniture and other obstacles. This information can be used to clean intelligently and effectively. This ensures a thorough and consistent clean, while also being relatively fast.

The Q Revo DuoRoller mop pad can reach many surfaces. This includes corners, baseboards and other difficult to reach places. They also have a flexible side brush that extends to reach the floor close to walls and other fixtures. The mop pads are also washable and dry to reduce odors and prevent buildup.

App-based customization is another notable feature. The Q Revo allows you to adjust the suction level and select either a back-and-forth or a random pattern. You can also choose the number of passes which determines how fast it can move around your home. You can also choose to turn off the side brush to avoid damaging carpets and rugs.

The device comes with a expensive price, but has a variety of advanced features. It is important to remember that the device will incur periodic costs in the form of mopping equipment and regular maintenance. For example brushrolls need to be replaced every six to 12 months or after 300 hours. The filter should be cleaned after 150 hours, and the mop pads must be replaced every one to three months.

The robot vacuum that mops has a high rating on Amazon and comes with a wide array of physical automation features. It has a power button that doubles as a general 'Clean' button and a 'Home button that will take it back to its base station after completing its cleaning session. It also comes with a multi-functional dock that automatically emptys the dustbin, refills its water tank, and cleans and dry its mop pads.

The Shark Matrix Plus

If you're a professional with a lot of work or someone who just wants a cleaner home without spending much time doing chores then the Shark Matrix Plus is a excellent option. It's a top-performing device, intelligent navigation, and long battery life that makes it simple to keep your home clean with little effort.

The Matrix Plus is a 2-in-1 robot vacuum and mop, that is, it can do both vacuuming and mopping. The robot vacuums that mop is divided into two modules that include a dry bin as well as a water tank that can be easily snapped in and out and a mopping unit that includes a microfiber pad. It's not the most modern thing to have separate modules for vacuuming and mopping, but it does mean you don't have to worry about changing the bags for disposables or refilling the tank with water.

Our test participants found that the Matrix Plus did a great job of vacuuming as well as mopping. Its greatest feature was its accurate floorplan that it uses to determine a route when cleaning. The Matrix Plus was able to navigate effortlessly around furniture, rugs and other obstacles. The app lets you create 'No-Go Zones' and virtual barriers to prevent certain areas from being cleaned by mopping.

We also found that the Matrix Plus did surprisingly well in removing pet hair. It was able capture a large amount of hair our cats shed and even got into the nooks and crevices of our stairs while other robots struggled. It was relatively silent and also had a few nice jingles that signalled when it was starting or finishing its work.

The app was too easy and you had to alter the modules each time you switched between vacuuming and mops. The app cannot store multiple maps. This can be an issue if your home has a variety of floors. The Matrix Plus robot is a ideal choice for people who are looking for a smart device that can auto vacuum and mop and mop.

The Yiko X1 Omni

The X1 Omni robot vacuum is the most expensive item in our review. It does however, have distinct features that make it worth considering. The X1 Omni is notable for its massive dock that serves as an charging base for the robot, a cleaning sink and two water tanks of 4 liters. It also houses a 2.5-liter dustbin and a 2.5 liter dust bin.

The base also has a number of buttons to control the system. These let you manually start a cleaning task or recall the robot or use the dock's automatic hoover emptying process. Hold down two buttons to toggle the child lock. This is a nice feature for parents worried about their kids messing around with the vacuum.

Like other robotic vacuums the X1 Omni uses its camera to spot furniture and obstacles in its path, and then avoid them. Its True Mapping 2.0 navigation system maps your home 10 times faster than conventional laser detection systems and is four times more precise at finding objects.

The X1 can be prone to become stuck when it gets caught in a blockage, such as a power cable tangled over a rug. It will not work until you manually untangle it. This was a rare incident however, it was a bit frustrating since the X1 does not have an "stuck status" alert in its app.

Another possible issue is one of the biggest drawbacks is X1 Omni's inability to automatically switch between mopping and vacuuming modes during a cleaning session. You will need to manually swap between the two modes, which isn't too bad apart from the fact that the mopping pads aren't cleaned and dried between uses, which can lead to mildew or mold.

The X1 Omni looks great, thanks to the Jacob Jensen design team (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who designed its sleek modern, contemporary base and mopping pad. It's a big contrast to the basic black bases of rivals like Roborock or iRobot. It's also an impressive sight in the market that is dominated by boxes.
