GreenPower Motor Company manufactures a complete line of heavy and medium-duty all-electric mobility scooter fastest vehicles, including high-floor and green mobility scooters lower-floor models. The EV Star Cab & Chassis is their flagship model, and can be adapted to suit a wide range of applications. The design of the platform is based on a simple paper that allows for optimum positioning of the battery pack and a lower center-of-gravity. This results in better range/payload ratios.

The EV Star REEFERX was designed for mid-to-last mile refrigerated deliveries as well as catering applications. The refrigerated trucks of class 4 with a single wall structure inside, and higher insulation than conventional trucks, enable seamless sanitation and better temperature control. They also have a longer service life. The EV Star REEFERX provides superior capacity for cargo and a payload that is industry-leading to reach the range of zero-emission freight or passenger transport.

GreenPower has joined forces with Perrone Robotics to up-fit the EV Star with their TONY (To Navigate You) autonomous vehicle system. This will allow fleets to quickly move to autonomous vehicles. The AV Star is also capable of wireless charging up to 75 kW.

We were able to test drive the EV9 on a local highway for several hours and found it to be simple to drive, and comfortable to drive for long distances. The ride is smooth and smooth over bumps and ruts, and the EV9 is a master of reducing wind and road noise on the highway. The acceleration is quite fast and the car has adjustable regenerative braking to enable "one pedal driving" by taking off the accelerator.

The EV9 offers a great range and can be charged in three hours or less at home, or using any commercial charger. Drivers can select between two operating modes: eco mode and sports mode. Eco mode prioritizes the scooter green power as well as cruise control and handling, while sport mode increases speed. Both are fun to drive and provide a unique driving experience for those who have not driven an electric vehicle before.

In addition to the EV9, GreenPower has several other e-vehicle offerings including a multi-purpose electric minibus called the EV Star. The EV Star is ADA compliant and can be utilized as an executive shuttle, micro-transit or transit bus, vanpool or paratransit vehicle.

GreenPower is already producing about 10 EV Star buses per month for the Jacksonville Transit Authority, which is working to replace their fleet of old diesel vehicles with 100 all-electric power scooters vehicles. With the Biden Administration planning to electrify school buses across the country, GreenPower plans on ramping up production to meet demand. Their EV Star buses are the first of their kind to be Altoona tested and FMVSS certified. They are Buy America compliant, and ADA conforming. This means they will be eligible for federal transit assistance grants. Stay tuned for updates as we follow the AV Star on its tour of demonstration later this year. We will provide more information on this innovative EV!
