It's also prone to getting stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. Also, it doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of an area.

It's still a good deal, especially if your home or office has lots of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save some money. It's also extremely quiet and operates when you're at work or in school. The only thing it's missing that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop to score an absolute 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it has an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, offering a simple mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only drawback is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in mornings prior to work or during the night when you are trying to sleep.
