Why You Should Concentrate On Enhancing Item Upgrades
Path of Exile item upgrade Upgrades
The performance of a variety of Path of Exile items can be enhanced by upgrading them. They can be a good source of damage or more AD or even more affixes.
Rare-grade equipment is usually superior to modernized Common or Magic equipment due to their higher requirements.
Armor
Armor upgrades can be applied to both armor and weapon items. They improve the stats of the item they are attached to. Armor upgrades are available in the world of the game and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at bonfires. Alternatively, they can also be salvaged from items with upgrade components within them by with a professional or higher salvage kit.
The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it can take on. Upgrading a piece of armor to the highest upgrade level will increase the damage it absorbs. It is important to keep in mind that this will increase the weight of the armor, therefore it should be heavier.
There are several kinds of armor upgrades that are available in the game and they all have different effects. For example, some upgrades give the armor a certain number of additional health points, while others make it stronger and lighter. The kind of armor upgrade an item upgrading can get will be identified by the name of the upgrade as shown in the table below.
Some of the upgrades also require magic or a hybrid technology and magic, which are indicated by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table below. Furthermore, some upgrades require a charge to use, which is shown by a "Charges" entry in the table below. These charges are constantly updated or never expire based on the upgrade.
The cheapest method to upgrade armor is by using Iron Ore, which can be found through exploring the surroundings and looting minor loot chests. Titanium is more costly, but is readily available at the smelters of Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, such as the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be applied to armor pieces of the highest level. These upgrades can provide significant improvements in stats and are worth the cost, especially for single-handed weapons.
Upgrading a piece of armor to its maximum upgrade level will significantly increase its defense capabilities, but the player should be aware that putting on weight can drastically decrease its agility and speed. It is not recommended to upgrade armor above +9. The defensive boost gained generally isn't worth the weight and power expenses of the upgrades.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades allow players to increase the effectiveness of specific aspects of an weapon. For instance an upgrade could improve the damage that is caused by a shotgun's shells or the accuracy of a rifle that snipes. Some weapons have special enhancements to enhance their intrinsic characteristics. They include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and minimizes the risk of overheating) and Kinetic Coils (increases the velocity of projectiles for greater damage).
Most upgrades for weapons require one of three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons and a whetblade. They can be gained by completing Side Quests or by killing a certain number of monsters and bosses.
Upgrading a Weapon, Equipment Set piece, or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade fee of a set number of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the more bars required to complete it. If you have multiple upgrade materials The cost of upgrading will be lower.
In Chapter 2: Season 5, the ways to upgrade your equipment and weapon sets changed a little. Before you could go to an Upgrade Bench and pay a certain number of Bars to upgrade your equipment or weapon to an increased rarity. You could do this until your weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level and at that point, the upgrades would be reset.
This is still possible, but it depends heavily on RNG. Instead, you're much better off going to the stores and buying equipment with low upgrade levels but good base scores and stat distributions. They will also be able to give you the highest tier bonuses and blessings.
To level up quicker, players usually be more inclined to upgrade their weapons. Additionally players, they should also consider upgrading the weapons that are most popular with their squadmates to make them more powerful as well. Shepard for instance, should upgrade the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R. This will make the weapon more useful when used with biotic specialists such as Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels are used in the sockets of armor and weapons, increasing a stat and providing secondary effects. They can be created through an process known as jewelry crafting, which is where you combine a gem and various reagents at a jewelry table. The higher the tier of the jewel, the better its secondary effect. These reagents can be found around the world from Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and occasionally by salvaging Legendary equipment. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.
The Jeweler can boost the quality of the gem in stages that range from Crude up to Royal. The stat boosts can vary depending on the level the jewel is at when it's slotted into jewelry, weapons or gear.
The Jeweler can create all tiers of gems, with the exception of rare and legendary ones that you must be at an appropriate level to obtain. Jewels can be substituted with another one without damaging the original. You can only replace the jewel once within an item of equipment.
Utilizing more jewels in a movement will make it more smooth and is typically performed for aesthetic reasons. The jewels can also enhance performance and make an outer layer that is more durable than metal so that repeated friction from pivots does not damage them.
In addition to the above upgrades, the player can also obtain glyphs for their weapons and shields from a Glyphmaster. These provide a small bonus and can be swapped freely however they aren't guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs can be upgraded as jewelry, by visiting the Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Crystal. Glyphs can also be removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, like traits and aegis, are not swappable, and can only be recovered using an Upgrade Extractor or salvaging them with the Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool.
Trinkets
Trinkets can be used to provide your hero with various small, but beneficial, benefits. They are available in the starter area as loot or as personal story rewards. They are also available through vendors and after doing road interaction. They may also be crafted by jewelers and later found or purchased on the Trading Post.
The first trinket that a player can unlock is the cloak. It grants a small but valuable boost in movement speed and the ability to escape. The player can then acquire necklaces, amulets, and rings in a similar manner as they did with weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment comes with one upgrade slot that can accommodate either a universal or a jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades are smaller and can be utilized on any equipment. Jewels cannot be upgraded or replaced and only work with certain trinkets.
These trinkets can provide additional bonuses and abilities that are active when the hero isn't fighting. This allows a hero to be more efficient while inactive. It also helps compensate for the lack of a good team or talent tree slots which are usually filled by the hero's Best item upgrader stats.
A good general rule of thumb for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you aren't planning to replace in the near future, then any items with desirable stats that are less important than the iLevel of the item upgrade being upgraded. This is especially true if you are looking to upgrade multiple stats on an item upgrader kit (try what she says). It's more beneficial to upgrade a single important stat rather than two suboptimal ones.
At the beginning of the game players who are in the jungle will typically want to upgrade their trinket into a red one, while top and middle players will usually opt for either a pink or green ward (depending on the game's matchup). These choices will have a significant impact on the hero's abilities to control maps.
In addition to the items mentioned above, players can also discover other trinkets in form trophies and rewards throughout the game. These can be earned by completing certain milestones in the story, such as finishing a chapter's main quest or killing a certain boss. You can see them by clicking on the achievement in the reward section of the hero's menu.
