Noah Pinsonnault is a product review analyst for the Home Care and Cleaning Lab at Good Housekeeping.
He evaluates and tests cleaning appliances, focusing on robot vacuum uk vacuums and mopping combos. These multitaskers are a great option for those who wish to get mopping off their to-do list. Some have great navigation and obstacles avoidance. Some even wash and refill mopping pads for a hands-free cleaning.
The Eufy S1 Pro
This is the model you should select if you're looking for a robot vacuum cleaner that also mop. It's smaller than other models which makes it easier to maneuver in tight corners or under furniture. It comes with a 220 degree Lidar that, combined with the 3D Matrix Camera System, offers some of my favorite navigation and avoidance capabilities I've seen in robot vacuums. It has a hefty 4600mAh battery that can last for up to 170-minutes when mopping and suction are set to standard mode (it is able to run longer in turbo). It will even return to the dock to replenish its battery halfway through a clean.
It's very efficient and does a great job of cleaning my two bedroom apartment. It can vacuum carpeted rooms fast, and hardwood floors in the living room, kitchen and hallways with only one sweep. The motor's 8,000pa power allows it to clean dirt as well as pet hair and droppings effortlessly. Carpet detection automatically boosts power when it detects carpets and the double side brush helps to remove debris from corners.
The mopping efficiency is less impressive, though not by much. The mop rotates at a high velocity and pushes down with 2.2lbs of force, easily scrubbing up dirt and stains. I've noticed that the front arms stick out slightly more than other robots, which is helpful to get into tight corners and along baseboards. The same front arms can also be used to sweep larger pieces of debris, such as broken toys or books.
Another great feature is that the S1 Pro is one of the quietest robot vacuums and mops I've ever tried. It doesn't create the same volume of sound when mopping or vacuuming and is much quieter than the Narwal Freo X Ultra or RoboRock S7. The only downside is that the S1 Pro must use a proprietary cleaning solution for its mopping function and is sold separately from the vacuum. It is easy to install and works well. However when you purchase this robot vacuum solely for mopping purposes, you will need to pay attention to this.
The Roborock Q Revo
The Q Revo stands apart from most robot vacuums that mops in its class. It has a robust suite of features that make it a great choice for homeowners looking to purchase a highly effective, versatile and ad-hoc cleaning machine.
The device is equipped with a powerful and impressive cleaning system that integrates LiDAR sensors and an RGB camera to map the home and identify furniture and other obstacles. This information can be used to clean efficiently and efficiently. This leads to a thorough, consistent clean which is also relatively fast.
In terms of mopping, Q Revo's DuoRoller mop pads can be used to reach an array of surface areas. They can reach corners or baseboards, as well as other hard-to-reach areas. The side brush can be stretched to extend to the floor, close to the walls and other fixtures. The mop pads can also be washable and dry to eliminate odors and stop buildup.
Another noteworthy feature is the customizable options available via apps. The Q Revo allows you to alter the intensity of its suction and select between a back-andforth, or a more random patterns. You can also alter the number of passes it should make, which will affect how fast the device will move through your home. You can also decide to disable the side brush to avoid damaging carpets and rugs.
The device comes with a expensive price, but comes with a large selection of innovative features. However, it's important to remember that it carries recurring costs in the form of mopping equipment and maintenance. For instance the brushroll should be replaced every six to 12 months or after 300 hours. The filter will need to be cleaned after 150 hours, and the mop pad should be replaced every one to three months.
This robot vacuum that mops is rated highly on Amazon and offers a wide variety of physical automation features. The robot vacuum also has an power button that doubles as the 'Clean button' and a Home button to send it back home after cleaning. It also has a multi-functional dock that automatically emptys the dustbin, refills its water tank to mop and washes and dry its mop pads.
The Shark Matrix Plus
If you're a professional with a lot of work or someone who just wants an organized home that doesn't require hours doing chores, the Shark Matrix Plus is a solid option. It has powerful performance, intelligent navigation, and a long battery life that makes it easy to keep your home tidy with minimal effort.
The Matrix Plus is a 2-in-1 robot vacuum and mop which means it can handle mopping and vacuuming. The robot is divided into two parts that include a dry bin as well as a water tank that can be easily snapped in and out and a mopping module that is equipped with a microfiber pad. It's a bit old-fashioned to have separate modules for vacuuming and mopping but it does mean that you don't have to worry about changing the bags for disposables or refilling the tank with water.
Our testers discovered that the Matrix Plus did a great job at both vacuuming and mopping. Its most impressive feature was its accurate floorplan map, which it uses to draw the path to follow when cleaning. The Matrix Plus was able to navigate effortlessly around furniture, rugs and other obstacles. The app also gives you the option to set "No-Go zones" and virtual barriers that help to keep certain areas of your house from being scrubbed with mop.
The Matrix Plus also did a surprising job of collecting hair of pets. It was able capture an enormous amount of hair that our cats shed, and even got into the nooks and crannies of our stairs which other robots struggled. It was silent and also had a few nice jingles that let you know when it was starting or completing its task.
The app was too easy and you had to switch the modules each time you changed between mops and vacuuming. The app can't keep multiple maps. This could be a problem if your home has multiple floors. The Matrix Plus is a good option for those looking for a smart robot that can do both vacuuming and mopping.
The Yiko X1 Omni
The X1 Omni is the most expensive robot vacuum that mops in our review, but it has some unique features that make it worth a look. The X1 Omni's main draw is its massive dock, which doubles as a charging base and the housing for two water tanks, a cleaning sink as well as the 2.5-liter dust bin that automatically emptys.
The base also has a number of control buttons that allow you to manually start a cleaning job, recall the robot vacuum cleaner best, or start the dock's auto-emptying process. Press two buttons to turn off the child lock. This is a wonderful feature for parents who are concerned about their children playing with the vacuum.
Like other robotic vacuums, the Omni Omni utilizes its camera to identify furniture and obstacles in its path, and then avoid them. True Mapping 2.0 navigation maps your home up to four times faster than laser detection systems.
Unfortunately, this means that the X1 Omni could occasionally get caught up in obstacles, like an electrical cord dangling across a rug that it becomes stuck and stops working until you free it. Although this is not a common occurrence but it was a very frustrating experience when it happened and especially because the X1 Omni doesn't have an "stuck" status alert in its app.
The X1 Omni is unable to automatically switch from mopping to vacuuming mode during the cleaning process. You will need to manually switch between the two, which isn't an issue apart from the fact that the mopping pads aren't washed and dried between uses which could lead to mildew or mold.
On the bright side, the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who came up with its modern and sleek base as well as mopping pad apparatus. It's a big departure from the utilitarian all-black bases of rivals like Roborock or iRobot. It's also a welcome sight for an industry dominated by boxy models.
